Rural Outreach Programme

The Rural Outreach Programme provides the most marginalized girls and boys from the remote fishing village of Chanyanya access to secondary school and the Learning & Leadership Centre.

Located approximately 25 km from Kafue along the Kafue River, Chanyanya remained without a secondary school until 2022, when the Zambian government opened the village's first secondary school. While this has expanded access to education, opportunities remain limited for many families due to poverty, the cost of schooling, and the long distances required to access additional academic support and enrichment programmes. Through the Rural Outreach Programme, students receive educational support, mentorship, housing and meal assistance when needed, enabling them to continue their education and pursue higher education. Today, many participants are becoming the first in their families to graduate from secondary school and college, creating new pathways for themselves, their families, and their community.
