Every year, Amos Youth Centre (AYC) joins the global community in recognizing January as National Mentoring Month, a time dedicated to celebrating the individuals who pour their time, wisdom, and compassion into guiding others. At our Learning & Leadership Centre in Kafue, Zambia, mentorship is more than just a program; it is a transformative pathway that builds confidence, shapes futures, and strengthens entire communities.
How Amos Youth Centre is Making High School Graduation Possible in Rural Communities
The Amos Youth Centre (AYC) Rural Outreach Programme, established in 2010, provides the most marginalized girls and boys from the fishing village of Chanyanya with access to secondary education, nutrition, mental health counseling, career guidance, and health services through our Learning & Leadership Centre in Kafue, Zambia. Mechanical engineering is a demanding field, one that calls for a strong foundation of sharp math skills and critical thinking. Chimango credits his success to his time spent at the Amos Youth Centre (AYC), where he first found the support to sharpen his academic strengths. Today, as a recent graduate from the University of Zambia and an active member of the AYC Alumni Network, Chimango returns to AYC to give back and lift others as he climbs.
